Overview
Dubai is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, on the Gulf coast around its creek (Khor Dubai). It grew from a pearling and fishing settlement into one of the region's great trading ports.
History
Regional histories record the town's growth in the thirteenth century AH (nineteenth century CE), its ties to the Bani Yas confederation as reported, and its long role as a free-trading entrepôt on the route between India and the Gulf.
