Overview
Al-Kindi (al-Kindī) is the classical nisba of the tribe of Kinda, attested for narrators, judges and scholars across the biographical works — most famously the philosopher Yaʿqūb ibn Isḥāq al-Kindī, 'the philosopher of the Arabs'. The nisba is widespread today in Oman, Yemen and the Gulf.
Note
Bearing a tribal nisba does not by itself establish a specific line of descent; families should verify their own documented lineage.
