Overview

Najran is an oasis city in southwestern Saudi Arabia on the old caravan road between Yemen and the Hijaz. It is among the most anciently attested places in the Peninsula, mentioned in classical geography and in accounts of pre-Islamic Arabia.

History

The classical sources record Najran's Christian community and its delegations in the Prophet's era. The wider region is the traditional homeland of the tribe of Yam.
