Quḍāʿah
A large early confederation whose placement — ʿAdnānī or Qaḥṭānī — the genealogists never settled.

Overview
Quḍāʿah is the standing exception in the two-branch scheme. Some sources reckon it to Maʿadd and so to the ʿAdnānī line; others place it under Ḥimyar and so among the Qaḥṭānīs. The disagreement is old, well documented, and was never resolved — which makes Quḍāʿah the clearest illustration that the branch framework is a scholarly ordering rather than a record. Balī and Juhaynah are reckoned to it in the usual accounts.
On lineage
Branch lists and affiliations here are given as reported by the classical genealogists, who themselves disagree. Nothing on this page establishes any living family's descent: a shared name may reflect descent, alliance (ḥilf) or clientage (walāʾ), and the sources usually say which only when they know.
Frequently asked questions
Is Quḍāʿah ʿAdnānī or Qaḥṭānī?
The sources never agreed. Some reckon it to Maʿadd (ʿAdnānī), others to Ḥimyar (Qaḥṭānī) — which is itself a useful reminder of what the framework is.
