Al-Durūʿ

A tribe of the Omani interior and the sands bordering the Empty Quarter.

Region
Omani interior toward the Empty Quarter

Overview

Al-Durūʿ are recorded in the interior of Oman, in the country between the settled oases and the sands running toward the Rubʿ al-Khālī. Like the other tribes of that margin their range is defined by wells and grazing rather than by any settled centre.

On lineage

Branch lists and affiliations here are given as reported by the classical genealogists, who themselves disagree. Nothing on this page establishes any living family's descent: a shared name may reflect descent, alliance (ḥilf) or clientage (walāʾ).
