Overview
Hadhramaut is the great valley region of southern Yemen between the plateau and the Arabian Sea, with historic towns such as Shibam, Say'un and Tarim. It is among the most anciently attested names of Arabia.
History
The classical geographers and genealogists know Hadhramaut as both a land and an ancient people. Its families were famous as scholars, traders and migrants — Hadhrami communities settled across India, Southeast Asia and East Africa, carrying the nisba al-Hadhrami worldwide.
