Overview

Rabīʿa stands opposite Muḍar in the ʿAdnānī scheme. The sources place under it Bakr and Taghlib, whose long feud is among the most reported episodes of pre-Islamic Arabia, and associate the grouping with eastern Arabia and the country toward Iraq. ʿAnizah is reckoned to Rabīʿa in the standard accounts.

On lineage

Branch lists and affiliations here are given as reported by the classical genealogists, who themselves disagree. Nothing on this page establishes any living family's descent: a shared name may reflect descent, alliance (ḥilf) or clientage (walāʾ), and the sources usually say which only when they know.

Frequently asked questions

Which tribes are placed under Rabīʿa?

Bakr and Taghlib above all, and ʿAnizah in the standard accounts — as reported by the genealogists, who differ.
